Breakfast in Nikiti
Morning Bites at The Pattern

Morning Bites at The Pattern Bistro, Nikiti — Greek pies, quiche and pizza slices freshly baked for breakfast in Sithonia, Halkidiki

In Greece, the morning doesn't really start with a sit-down breakfast. It starts with a coffee in one hand and something warm, flaky and savoury in the other — a slice of tiropita on the way to work, a piece of spanakopita at the beach, a peinirli shared at the table. That is exactly the idea behind our Morning Bites.

From the moment we open every morning at The Pattern Bistro, in the old town of Nikiti, we lay out a short selection of Greek pies, quiches, pizza slices, croissants and toasts — quick, honest food to pair with your specialty coffee. Eat in, take away, or have it delivered through delivery.thepattern.gr.

Greek pies: the real breakfast of Halkidiki

If you want to eat breakfast the way locals in Sithonia do, start with a pie. Our cheese pie (τυρόπιτα) is golden, flaky and generously filled with a rich, creamy cheese filling. The spinach & cheese pie (σπανακοτυρόπιτα) is the lighter, greener classic. The minced meat pie (κρεατόπιτα) is the one to choose when you need a proper start before a long day — at work or on the boat.

And then there is the Mount Athos pie, inspired by the traditional flavours of Mount Athos, just across the gulf from Sithonia. It's a small tribute to the region we live in, and one of the bites we're asked about most.

A coffee in one hand, a slice of pie in the other —
that's how mornings work in Greece.

Peinirli, quiche and something for everyone

Peinirli (πεϊνιρλί) is the boat-shaped baked dough from northern Greece, filled with melted cheese and finished with an egg. It's warm, comforting and very hard to share. If you've never tried one, this is the place to start.

For a French touch, there are two quiches: a classic bacon quiche Lorraine, rich and creamy, and a lighter zucchini & feta quiche that brings a Greek accent to the recipe. Prefer something sweet? Our chocolate croissant is buttery, flaky and filled with smooth chocolate — the perfect partner for a flat white.

And for the mornings that call for more: a scrambled egg toast with soft, creamy eggs on crispy bread, a hearty special toast, or a slice of Mediterranean pizza for those who believe pizza is a breakfast food (we agree).
